Whilst on holiday in South Africa recently, our CEO Sue Campbell-Ross, was asked to talk to a group of teachers and parents in a rural school in KwaZulu Natal about autism and ways to support students with autism, in school and at home.

It came about with Lynette Heron, owner of a local business, Spionkop Lodge who supports several rural schools through funds raised at the lodge from visitors’ donations. There are currently few support resources available on autism for both parents and teachers. Lynette who taught Sue (such a small world) approached Sue to share her extensive knowledge and insights.

The information event was held at Winterton Primary School and though it was done at short notice, it was very well received with 75 people in attendance with some travelling long distances to attend.

This is what Janine Muirhead, the principal had to say, β€œOur staff and the parents of the schoolkids are extremely grateful for the talk. There is a greater level of confidence to use the insights and the strategies they were able to learn from Sue.”
Sue is equally inspired and now hopes to continue and extend this oversea support through online sessions with her and her Able2 specialist staff. Watch this space!!!
